02 — How the tests work

Inside the free brain test

The free brain test is not a personality quiz with a pretty chart at the end. It is five timed tasks of the kind used in psychology research, scored the way those tasks are normally scored, then rolled into one number you can retest whenever you like.

Every stage is measured in its own units. Reaction Speed in milliseconds. Number Memory and Visual Recall in the length of the sequence you can hold. Focus in how much the Stroop clash slows you down. Quick Math in correct answers under the clock. Those five feed one Brain Score on an IQ-style scale, where 100 sits at average. Quick mode runs three stages in about two minutes. Full mode runs all five in about five minutes.

You also get a percentile against other anonymous players, so a result means something beyond your own screen. Personal bests stay on the device you played on. No account, no email, no password to forget, nothing to cancel.

Then there are the questionnaires: ADHD traits, autism traits, AuDHD, sensory profile, executive function, masking and rejection sensitivity. This screen is for education and self-reflection only. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace a clinician. If the result worries you, talk to a GP or specialist. The IQ-style quizzes sit in the same honest bracket. Results are not clinically validated and should not be used as a substitute for professional assessment.

The reason to know your weakest domain is that you can train it. Take the full test, find the stage that dragged, then work on it: Stroop and flanker for focus, digit and backward span for memory, go/no-go and choice reaction for speed, sudoku and word puzzles when you want the practice to feel like a break. Come back in a fortnight, take the same test, and watch which number actually moved.

03 — What it looks like

Five stages, one score

Reaction Speed, Number Memory, Visual Recall, Focus and Quick Math. Plain screens, a clock, and your own results afterwards. No glowing graphics, no lab coats, nothing you need to set up first.
